Being stressed out is something we have all experienced, but are you living constantly with stress?
My friends and family know that I am pretty laid back and rarely get super stressed out. It’s just in my nature to be more laissez-faire than to worry about the details. After having my kids I realized it does no one any good when I get stressed out and anxious because then my whole family feels the tension and nothing good or productive ever comes out of it:)
It is important for so many reasons to manage your stress….
- keep your weight balanced
- stronger immune functions
- healthy inflammatory response
- PEACE OF MIND
Some ways I reduce my stress and find balance are…..
- Have a balanced diet. I try to include lots of nuts, seeds, healthy fats, whole grains and an abundance of fruits and veggies to my diet. I stay away from sugary sweets, fast food, alcohol (except my wine on occasion!), dairy, wheat or anything packaged with tons of ingredients I can’t read.
- Find a balanced exercise routine. Fitness is my career so I tend to work out a lot, but some stress-reducing activities that I love are yoga, dancing, walking/hiking and swimming.
- Know how to balance your energy. I only have my one cup of coffee in the am so I don’t experience highs and lows. And did you know that coffee can deplete your magnesium stores (more on that next). I find my energy from plant based sources like green smoothies or juices, maca tea, and fruit.
- AND…… Balance your cells. Your body needs balance at a cellular level to help you fight that stress! It’s important to get enough calcium and magnesium to create balance in your cells. A good example is a glass of coconut milk with a banana as a healthy snack.
Know that you create your own reality so focus on bettering yourself and empowering others to do the same. Staying positive and mindful plus taking care of yourself will help you battle whatever stressful situation comes your way:)
Stay Calm xoxo
