In my line of work, I meet people on their journey to becoming a more fit, healthy, happier version of themselves. My day to day interactions with my clients are what motivate me. I love my job because of the progress, effort, and results I see my clients achieving in our time together.
I often get asked what I eat and how many times do I exercise outside of work so I wanted to do a post on a couple days in my life:)
Just a regular Tuesday……
- Wake up at 5:00am
- Breakfast is always lemon water to start, then oatmeal with hemp hearts and chia seeds with almond milk. Coffee, but I bring it to go.
- Teach 3 Barre classes at Barre Fitness North Shore (barrefitness.com), 6am, 7:15 & 9:30am.
- SNACK– Green smoothie that I have brought with me plus some almonds and dates as my snack.
- 12pm Teach spin at Eastwood Cycle eastwoodcycle.com
- Lunch is either leftovers (if I am lucky) or Avocado with hummus and toast. I always try to eat some protein (beans), with some healthy fats (avocado) with fibre (seedy toast).
- I now have 1 hour to myself before I pick up my kids from school in which sometimes I clean, write, fb…. but most times I power nap!
- Dinneris lots of veggies and fish, or roasted cauliflower+chickpeas+yams, or a quinoa salad…
- 7PM shut down the kitchen. I might have some tea but I do NOT snack in the evening.
- BEDby 10pm
A typical Sunday……..
- Sleep in until 8am
- Banana almond pancakes with my family.
- A workout of my own, I love variety so I go between yoga, a hike, trail running or attending a spin or barre class.
- LUNCH- Smoothie with a small bean salad.
- 1pm Teaching a private ballet class.
- An afternoon to chill and spend time with my family.
- 6pm Wine:) oh and course a healthy dinner.
- Catch up on my favourite shows with my husband:)
I am a meal planner and do a lot of food prep so that we always have something homemade to reach for as a snack or for lunch. I do a lot of gluten free, vegan baking (even tho I am neither of those things) just so we can snack without guilt.
I never restrict myself! Even though my husband is a very strict vegetarian, I sometimes eat chicken or fish. I can’t tolerate dairy (at all) so we use soy cheese for pizza and only drink almond milk. I use coconut oil for baking and use flaxseed to bind (no eggs). I snack on fruit all day. I sometime have 4 or 5 pieces of fruit a day and feel great because of it.
And lastly for my indulgences, since I am not a saint, I drink wine a couple (like 4-5) nights a week and eat a little bit of dark chocolate every day.
I work out on my own maybe only once or twice a week because I need the energy to be the best mom to my girls and don’t want to burn out.
I am so happy with my food and exercise choices because they give me energy and make me feel more vibrant. Learning what works for you and your family is key to feeling your best:)
I’d love to hear what works for you. Sharing health tips and workout routines and supporting each other is what I want this blog to be all about!
